AI Visionary & Tech Leader of the Year 2025
About Me
I put together my first computer when I was 10. By 17, I was writing software for clients. Somewhere along the way, that curiosity turned into a career spanning five countries, six industries, and some pretty incredible teams. When I'm not building fintech products, you'll find me scuba diving, flying small planes, or trying to photograph the Milky Way.
I'm based in Goa, India, where I run CodeMax IT Solutions—a company I founded in 2016 to build banking platforms and cybersecurity tools that actually work at scale. I also serve on the CII Goa State Council and was recently named Tech Leader of the Year 2025. My big bet right now? Helping position India—and especially Goa—as a serious player in global fintech and AI.
Everything I do traces back to values my parents instilled in me. My father was a professor, my mother an equally strong guiding force. They didn't get to see most of this journey, but their belief in education, hard work, and giving back shapes every decision I make.
I've been obsessed with what AI can do for businesses long before it became trendy. At CodeMax, we use machine learning to automate everything from compliance checks to fraud detection. I also develop AI curriculum at Shree Damodar College—teaching the next generation what took me years to figure out the hard way.
This is my bread and butter. Through CodeMax, we've built 'Astra'—our core banking system—and 'Orion', a transaction monitoring platform that screens payments in real time. Both are ISO 27001 certified and serve clients across Israel, the UK, and the US. We didn't just build products; we built trust.
When you're handling other people's money, security isn't optional—it's everything. We run SIEM systems that monitor threats in real time across financial institutions in four countries. ISO 27001 isn't just a badge for us; it's how we sleep at night.
I hold C-level positions across companies in Israel, the UK, the US, Lithuania, and India. That means navigating different time zones, regulatory frameworks, and work cultures every single day. It's complex, sometimes chaotic, but honestly—I wouldn't have it any other way.
I've taken products from a whiteboard sketch to thousands of users across international markets. The trick isn't just building something technically sound—it's understanding what the market actually needs, then executing relentlessly. Astra and Orion are proof of that approach.
I mentor startups at Silicon Valley's Founder Institute and invest in early-stage AI and deep-tech companies. There's something deeply rewarding about helping a founder avoid the mistakes I made—or sometimes encouraging them to make different ones.
Companies come to me when they're stuck—whether it's a payment system that won't scale, a compliance headache, or a digital transformation that's gone sideways. I've been through enough of these situations to know what works and, more importantly, what doesn't.
Technology should lift everyone, not just the people building it. Through my work with CII and the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, I push for policies that make Goa's tech ecosystem competitive globally. The goal? Create real jobs and real opportunities right here at home.
I help traditional businesses make the leap to modern tech stacks—cloud infrastructure, DevOps, microservices—without losing what makes them work. It's not about ripping everything out and starting over. It's about smart, practical upgrades that actually stick.
Built this from scratch in 2016. Today we develop core banking systems, transaction monitoring tools, and cybersecurity solutions for clients across five countries. Our products Astra and Orion are used in production by financial institutions daily.

Professional Recommendation
Mayur Virkar possesses both technical skills and business acumen. He is always looking for ways to improve processes by increasing efficiency. His intelligence and dedication make him a true professional who can develop innovative solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
I built my first computer at 10. By 17, I was writing software for paying clients. Today, I run teams across five countries building fintech and AI products that handle real money for real institutions. It's been quite a ride.
Where It All Started
I grew up in a middle-class family in Goa where education wasn't just valued—it was everything. My father, Prof. Rajendra T. Virkar, taught at Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics from 1972 to 1999, then went on to become the founding principal of Shree Mallikarjun College of Arts & Commerce. My mother, Asha Virkar, was equally the foundation of our family's values. I lost my father in 2010 and my mother in 2011. Losing them both so early changed me—it made everything feel more urgent, more purposeful.
I was always that kid who took things apart to see how they worked. At 10, I assembled my first PC from parts. By 17, I was building software for local businesses. Looking back, the entrepreneurial instinct was there from the start—I just didn't have a name for it yet.
Building CodeMax
In 2016, I founded CodeMax IT Solutions. The idea was straightforward: build fintech products that banks and financial institutions can actually trust. Not flashy demos—real, production-grade systems. We started small, but today CodeMax develops core banking platforms, transaction monitoring systems, and cybersecurity solutions used by clients across Israel, the UK, the US, and Europe.
Our flagship products—CodeMax Astra (core banking) and Orion (transaction monitoring & screening)—are ISO 27001 certified and handle sensitive financial data daily. Building them taught me that in fintech, there are no shortcuts. You either do it right or you don't do it at all.
Beyond CodeMax, I also serve as:
COO at Scoders Ltd. (Israel) — where my international career began back in 2014. I manage cross-border tech operations and outsourcing partnerships
CTO at MoneyNetInt Ltd. (UK) — running the technology behind banking platforms serving European markets
CTO at M-Net International Inc. (USA) — leading fintech solutions for the US market since 2022
Director at Ediven Construction & Real Estate and Partner at CodeRun LLP — because diversification keeps you sharp
Giving Back: Mentoring & Investing
I mentor startups at Silicon Valley's Founder Institute and actively invest in early-stage AI and deep-tech companies. There's a particular satisfaction in helping a first-time founder navigate the same problems I struggled with years ago. Sometimes the best advice is just: "Yeah, I made that exact mistake—here's what I'd do differently."
Industry & Civic Roles
I believe technology leaders have a responsibility beyond their own companies. That's why I'm involved in:
CII Goa State Council — as State Council Member and Co-Convener of the IT & Start-Up Panel, pushing for policies that help Goa's tech ecosystem grow
Indo-American Chamber of Commerce — as Honorary Chief Representative of Goa since April 2025, building business bridges between India and America
Shree Damodar College — developing AI curriculum at the same college where my father taught. Of all the things I do, this one probably means the most to me
Recognition
In 2025, I was named Tech Leader of the Year by Business Goa—an award presented by Vijai Sardessai, MLA of Fatorda and former Deputy Chief Minister of Goa. I'm grateful for the recognition, but honestly, the real reward is seeing the work make a difference.
Life Outside Work
I'm a firm believer that the best leaders have lives outside the boardroom. Here's what keeps me grounded:
Scuba Diving: Being 20 meters underwater teaches you things no business book can—stay calm, trust your preparation, trust your team. Those lessons apply to everything
Flying: I have 12+ flight hours across light aircraft and simulators. There's something about a pre-flight checklist that changes how you approach any complex problem
Astrophotography: Spending hours setting up a shot of the Milky Way is the ultimate exercise in patience and precision. Two things I need plenty of in my day job
Travel: I don't just visit places—I try to understand them. How people work, what they value, how markets function on the ground. Every trip teaches me something I bring back to business
What I'm Working Toward
The vision is ambitious but clear: grow CodeMax into a ₹1,000 crore company employing 1,000 Goans. Not because the numbers matter for their own sake, but because Goa has the talent, the location, and the quality of life to become a serious global tech hub. Someone just needs to prove it's possible. I intend to.
Through CII and the Indo-American Chamber, I'm working to build the ecosystem around that vision—better policies, stronger international connections, and more opportunities for young people who want to build careers in tech without leaving Goa.

How I Think About Work
If I had to boil it down, here's what drives my decisions:
Build things that matter. Technology for technology's sake is pointless. Every product we build should solve a real problem for real people
Security is non-negotiable. When you handle financial data, you don't get second chances. Get it right the first time
Understand the ground reality. You can't build for a market from behind a desk. Go there, talk to people, see how things actually work
Pay it forward. The best investment is in people. Mentor generously, share what you know, and create opportunities for others
Stay rooted. Success means nothing if you lose sight of the values that got you here. My parents were educators—their principles guide me every day
Let's Talk
I'm always open to interesting conversations—whether it's about AI strategy, fintech challenges, speaking at your event, or just swapping scuba diving stories. If you think we could work together or learn from each other, reach out.
